Atturra Partners with the Australian Payroll Association to Support Client Compliance with Awards Legislation and Enhanced Employee Experience

Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Partnership aims to enhance payroll operations by leveraging expert people, streamlined processes, and innovative technology to support clients.

Atturra, a leading technology services business in designing, implementing, and maintaining IT solutions, has announced a strategic industry partnership with the Australian Payroll Association (APA), Australia's leading body for payroll professionals.

The partnership reinforces Atturra’s commitment to people, process and technology by delivering comprehensive payroll and HR solutions, which support client compliance with Australia’s ongoing changing awards legislation, reduce the potential for risk and propel a positive employee experience.

Importantly, the partnership between the two organisations is built on a shared mission to simplify, optimise, and modernise payroll solutions across Australia, and together helps the thousands of businesses and payroll professionals who rely on efficient, compliant, and strategically aligned payroll operations.

Australia’s industrial relations landscape complexity has been compounded over the past year by a series of significant changes. The country has seen the introduction of new casual conversion pathways, the enactment of Right to Disconnect and an increase in the Superannuation Guarantee to 12 per cent.

In addition, there’s the ongoing challenge of navigating a complicated Awards system, which requires employees to be classified and remunerated according to the duties they perform, with adjustments required when staff take on higher duties, even if temporarily. Making mistakes in the pay office can put organisations on the wrong side of the law, not a good look for any brand seeking to build market share and great employee experiences. Since January 2025, deliberate wage theft has also been a criminal offence. It carries a maximum penalty of $1.565 million, or three times the value of the underpayment (whichever is greater) and 10 years’ imprisonment for individuals. Organisations face fines of up to $7.825 million, or three times the value of the underpayment.

The collaboration between the APA and Atturra amplifies Atturra's Payroll and HR offering to the market, a strategic, solution-oriented approach that prioritises business outcomes over product sales. With existing proven delivery and a fresh focus on payroll capability, clients can feel confident their solutions are based on specific organisational needs, rather than predetermined technology.

"We're thrilled that this partnership will help us better serve our clients," said Nikita Potter, Atturra's General Manager for Payroll and HR Services. "By aligning with APA, we ensure our clients benefit from real-time legislative updates, industry insights and knowledge that helps address their business problems, meets their changing needs and sets them up for sustained growth."

The partnership will provide significant value to Atturra's clients by ensuring they benefit from APA's knowledge and expertise, in addition to Atturra's specialist skills and delivery capabilities which combine people, process and technology to pinpoint compliance gaps, operational risk and opportunities for improvement.

"We're seeing organisations increasingly seeking alternatives to traditional tech-focused approaches," said Heather Pettenon, Atturra's General Manager of Strategic Markets.
