New feature streamlines the payment process for customers and improves cashflow for tradies
Fergus, a leading job management software provider for the trade industry in Australia, New Zealand, UK, and the USA has announced the launch of tap-to-pay functionality.
Tap to pay enables Fergus trade users to receive immediate payment for jobs by allowing their customers to tap a debit or credit card on the user’s mobile device screen with no additional hardware required. Customers can also opt to pay using a digital wallet.
The tap-to-pay functionality is part of the Fergus Pay integrated payment system powered by Stripe. Its introduction removes the need for customers to manually enter payment details and streamlines the entire payment process.
Mark Bartels, CEO, Fergus, said, “Fergus customers can now accept contactless payments directly on their phone using Fergus Pay. Finish a job on site, tap the customer’s card or phone, and the money is on its way. No clunky terminals. No chasing invoices."

The tap-to-pay functionality is further enhanced by incorporating auto reconciliation capabilities. Once the tap-to-pay transaction has taken place, the payment is automatically recognised and recorded in Fergus. This removes the manual steps usually associated with recording payments and reduces the administrative burden for business owners.
“General ledgers are the system of record for tradies. Fergus is the system of action. It’s where the work gets done. Quoting, invoicing, job-costing, and getting paid all happen on Fergus. Tap2Pay is the next step: it accelerates cash flow, saves time, and opens up new ways to get paid the moment the job’s done. The best time to ask for payment is when the work is complete and the customer is happy. Strike while the iron’s hot. Tap2Pay is a huge unlock for trade pros who want to get paid fast.”
To further enhance its payment platform and provide choices for clients, Fergus is currently working on integrating buy now pay later (BNPL) capabilities. The capability will be made available to Fergus users later this year.
